Maplewood Heights is a stable, friendly neighborhood. The neighborhood is centered on the Renton School District’s Maplewood Heights Elementary and the nearby Maplewood Park. Test scores in the Renton School District have shown a strong improvement in 2011 and Maplewood Height Elementary has been named a “School of Distinction”.

Nearby Hazen High School serves the Maplewood Heights neighborhood. Hazen has very good men and women swim teams. Many families bring their kids to the pool to learn to swim. It is the only year round public swimming pool in Renton. The girls drill team at Hazen won the state championship.

Unique shopping nearby includes Shawn and Ted’s Meat Market – a butcher shop with the highest quality natural meats – and the Viet Wah Asian grocery store, known for its excellent produce and low prices.

Nearby recreation includes the Eastside’s only ice skating rink, Castle Ice, where adults and kids can learn ice skating, hockey, and “broomball”. Three miles away is the Renton Community Center with gym, theater, and the Henry Moses outdoor waterpark.

The location has a lot of advantages: A choice of routes exists into downtown Seattle via 405/I-90 or 900/I-5 to avoid traffic. Police coverage from three cities – Renton, Newcastle, and Issaquah – meet in this area, providing added safety.
